Snail and slug baits are used in many gardens during the summer. Metaldehyde and methiocarb preparations are toxic for pets. The main symptoms of such an intoxication are convulsions, hyperthermia and tachycardia. Without adequate therapy, the intoxication often leads to death. The treatment involves the decontamination of the gastrointestinal tract and symptomatic therapy. This case report describes the successful therapy of metaldehyde intoxication in a four-month-old dog.
