Zusammenfassung
Ein sieben Monate alter Labrador-Retriever-Mischlingwurde zwölf Stunden nach einem unbekannten Traumamit Kopfschiefhaltung und Nackenschmerzen vorgestellt.Innerhalb der nächsten Stunden verschlechterte sich derklinische Zustand. Anhand von Röntgenaufnahmen wurdeeine Axisschrägfraktur diagnostiziert. Die Therapie erfolgteüber eine ventrale Stabilisation mit Steinmannnägeln mitGewinde und Knochenzement. Postoperativ kam es zurfunktionellen Wiederherstellung. Die adäquate Versorgungvon Axisfrakturen wird anhand des Falles diskutiert.Summary
Therapeutic problems in axis fractures: A case report in a dogA 7-month-old Labrador retriever with head tilt and neckpain was presented twelve hours after unknown trauma.Within the few next hours, the dog‘s clinical conditiondeteriorated. An oblique fracture of the axis was diagnosedradiographically. Ventral stabilisation with threaded Steinmannpins and bone cement was carried out as therapy.Postoperatively, the dog achieved functional recovery.Using this case as an example, the adequate treatment ofaxis fractures is discussed.
