Zusammenfassung

Die Konzentrationen der Schilddrüsenhormone bei Greyhoundsund Whippets unterscheiden sich von den Konzentrationenbei Nicht-Windhunden. Die Hypothese dervorliegenden Studie war, dass die Konzentrationen derSchilddrüsenhormone auch bei Sloughis niedriger als beiNicht-Windhunden und mit Greyhounds vergleichbar sind.An der Studie waren 51 gesunde, durchschnittlich vierJahre (1–12 Jahre) alte Sloughis ohne klinische Erkrankungenbeteiligt. Die Schilddrüsenprofile der Sloughis,bestehend aus Gesamtthyroxin (tT4), freiem Thyroxin (fT4),freiem Thyroxin nach Equilibrium-Dialyse (fT4 nach ED),kaninem thyroideastimulierenden Hormon (cTSH) undThyreoglobulin-Antikörpern sowie Blutbilder mit Differenzialblutbildund Serumbiochemie wurden mit den Wertenbei Nicht-Windhunden verglichen. Bei acht Sloughis wurdenTSH-Stimulationstests durchgeführt.Die mit Chemilumineszenz gemessenen Konzentrationenvon tT4 und fT4 waren bei den Sloughis niedriger alsbei den Kontrolltieren (1,13 ± 0,65 amp;#956;g/dl, verglichen mit2,9 ± 0,8 amp;#956;g/dl, P

Thyroid Testing in Sloughis
Thyroid hormone concentrations were found to be differentin Greyhounds and Whippets compared with nonsighthound dogs. The hypothesis of the present study was, thatin Sloughis, thyroid hormone concentration is lower than innonsight hounds and comparable to Greyhounds.51 Sloughis with no evidence of disease and a mean ageof four years (range, 1–12 years) participated in the study.Thyroid profiles consisting of total thyroxine (tT4), freethyroxine (fT4), free thyroxine after equilibrium dialysis (fT4after ED), canine thyroid stimulation hormone (cTSH), andthyroglobulin antibodies as well as CBC and serum biochemistryresults of Sloughis were compared with those ofnormal dogs. In eight Sloughis, TSH stimulation tests wereperformed.In Sloughis, tT4 concentrations and fT4 concentrationsmeasured by chemiluminescence were lower than thoseof controls (1.13 ± 0.65 mg/dL compared with 2.9 ± 0.8mg/dL, P
