Summary
In the present case a previously healthy patient was presented in the veterinary clinic with vomiting after ingestion of cough tablets containing Flurbiprofen. The male dog had vomited since the first day after admission, and showed loss of appetite, diarrhea and a progressive deterioration of his general condition over the course of three days. The suspicion of ascites based on radiological findings was confirmed via sonography of the abdomen, that also showed a loss of stratification of the stomach wall. During the following exploratory coeliotomy, a perforating gastric ulcer was found near the pylorus, which required a partial resection of the affected area. A surgical treatment was provided by Billroth’s operation I, associated with a cautious prognosis regarding convalescence.
