Laparoscopic removal of an ovarian remnant in a bitch

Zusammenfassung
Beschrieben wird der Fall einer Hündin, die drei Monate nach erfolgter Kastration aufgrund von Läufigkeitssymptomen vorstellig wurde. Nach Anamnese und klinischer Untersuchung erfolgten eine Vaginalzytologie, eine Sonografie des Abdomens sowie die Bestimmung des Anti-Müller-Hormons und Progesteron. In der Sonografie konnte eine zystenartige Struktur kaudal des rechten Nierenpols festgestellt werden, welche laparoskopisch entfernt wurde. Die pathohistologische Untersuchung bestätigte die Verdachtsdiagnose eines Ovarrestes.
Summary
This report describes a bitch presenting with symptoms of heat three months after her spay. Based on the medical history and clinical findings, vaginal cytology, sonography of the abdomen, measurement of the circulating anti-Muellerian Hormone and progesterone was performed. Sonography revealed a cyst-like structure at the caudal pole of the right kidney. The cystic tissue was successfully removed with the aid of laparoscopy and sent for histopathological examination. Histopathology confirmed the clinical suspicion of an ovarian remnant.
