Canine juvenile cellulitis – chronic course and increased incidence in Bolonka dogs

Zusammenfassung
Drei Bolonka Zwetna erkrankten in den Jahren 2009/2010 an der juvenilen Zellulitis. Bei allen Hunden zeigten sich die typischen Symptome wie Schwellung im Gesichtsbereich um Lefzen, Kinn und Augen, Schwellung der mandibulären und cervikal-superfiziellen Lymphknoten und Bildung von Papeln, Pusteln, Krusten und Fisteln im Gesicht und an den Pinnae. Bei allen drei Hunden entstanden auch am Rumpf multifokal alopezische, erythematöse, exsudative und krustöse Stellen und sie hatten Fieber. Zwei Hunde zeigten zusätzlich Lahmheiten und ein Hund hatte abdominale Schmerzen. Sie mussten dauerhaft mit Ciclosporin A und in einem Fall gleichzeitig mit Prednisolon behandelt werden.
Summary
Three Bolonkas were presented with juvenile cellulitis in the years 2009/2010. All four dogs had the typical clinical signs such as facial swelling (affecting especially the lips, chin and around the eyes), mandibular and prescapular lymphadenopathy, as well as papules, pustules, crusts and fistulae on the face and pinnae. All three dogs also suffered from multifocal alopecia, erythaematous, exudative and crusted lesions on the trunk and fever. Two dogs showed also lameness and one dog abdominal pain. These three dogs had to be treated for a prolonged period of time with cyclosporine A; in one case, this had to be combined with prednisolone.
