Zusammenfassung

An 38 Britisch Kurzhaar und 49 Exotic Shorthair Katzenwurde das Skelett- und Körpermassewachstum im longitudinalenModus untersucht. Das Skelettwachstum wirdanhand von äußerlich abnehmbaren, anatomisch definiertenLängen- und Breitenmaßen beschrieben. Die biomathematischeAufbereitung der Messdaten erfolgte durchApproximation der modifizierten Janoschek-Funktion. EinGeschlechtsdimorphismus zugunsten der männlichenKatzen kann schon relativ früh gezeigt werden. Er bleibtbis zum Wachstumsabschluss statistisch nachweisbar. ZurKlassifikation in Zwerg-, Klein-, Normal-, Groß- und Riesenwüchsigkeitwird die Wachstumskurve mit den Perzentilenpräsentiert. Anhand dieser Prozentsummenkurven kann derWachstumsstatus einzelner Katzen beurteilt und deren Fütterungan den Bedarf angepasst werden. Zusätzlich wurdenerrechnet und tabellarisch dargestellt: Die Wendepunkteder Wachstumskurven, die asymptotischen Werte, dieWachstumsanteile zur Geburt und die Zeitpunkte, zu denen10, 30, 50, 75, 95 und 98 % der Endmaße erreicht sind.

Summary

Postnatal growth of the skeleton and body mass in domesticcats
The postnatal growth of both the skeleton and body masswas investigated longitudinally in 38 British Shorthair and49 Exotic Shorthair cats. Skeletal growth was describedby means of externally obtainable, anatomically definedlength and width measurements. The biomathematicalanalysis of the data was performed by fitting the modifiedJanoschek growth curve. A sexual dimorphism in favour ofmale cats could be demonstrated relatively early in life. Thissexual dimorphism remained statistically significant untilthe cessation of growth. The growth values are also presentedas percentiles enabling the classification of individualcats into having dwarfish, low, normal, big and giganticgrowth. This allows the growth status of individual cats tobe evaluated and their nutrition can be adapted if necessary.Additionally, the points of inflection for the growthcurves, the asymptotic measures, the degrees of maturityat birth, the times to grow 10, 30, 50, 75, 95, and 98 % ofthe final size have also been calculated and are presentedin tables.
