Incomplete ossification of the humeral condyle in a Yorkshire Terrier: a case report

Zusammenfassung

In der Klinik für kleine Haustiere der Freien Universität Berlin wurde ein eineinhalb Jahre alter, weiblich kastrierter Yorkshire Terrier wegen einer progredient linearen Lahmheit der rechten Vordergliedmaße vorgestellt. Die orthopädische Untersuchung, Röntgen und Computertomografie ergaben beidseits eine inkomplette Ossifikation der Humeruskondylen mit intrakondylärer Humerusfraktur rechtsseitig ohne vorangegangenes Trauma. Unseres Wissens ist dies bisher beim Yorkshire Terrier nicht beschrieben.

Summary

A 1.5-year-old spayed female Yorkshire Terrier was presented at Berlin University’s Small Animal Clinic because of an acute lameness of the right forelimb that had become progressively worse. The results of the orthopaedic, radiological and computer-tomographic examinations revealed an incomplete ossification of the humeral condyle in both legs with an intercondylar fracture on the right side without any previous trauma. To our knowledge, this condition is has not been previously described in Yorkshire Terriers.
