Zusammenfassung
Ein acht Jahre alter Foxterrier Rüde mit den SymptomenAnorexie, Gewichtsverlust, steifer Gang und Schwächewurde zur Abklärung im Rahmen der Sprechstunde vorgestellt.Nach Feinnadelaspiration der Lymphknoten wurdemikroskopisch eine Infektion mit Hepatozoon canis nachgewiesen.Eine PCR-Untersuchung von Blut und Lymphknotengewebebestätigte die Diagnose. Eine parasitologischeUntersuchung der Mutter, die vor zwei Jahren ähnlicheklinische Symptome zeigte, zum Untersuchungszeitpunktaber völlig unauffällig war, ergab ebenfalls den Nachweiseiner Infektion mit H. canis. Beide Hunde sind in Deutschlandgeboren und waren nie im Ausland. Sie wurdenjahrelang im selben Revier jagdlich geführt. Im folgendenBericht werden Symptome, diagnostisches Vorgehen undTherapieansätze bei H.-canis-Infektionen beschrieben undDaten zur Epidemiologie des Erregers vorgestellt.Summary
Hepatozoon canis infections in two dogs from GermanyAn eight-year-old male Fox Terrier with the symptoms anorexia,weight loss, stiff gait and weakness was presented atthe clinic for further examination. A fine needle aspirationof the lymph nodes revealed an infection with Hepatozooncanis. A PCR analysis of blood and lymph node tissue confirmedthe diagnosis. An examination of the patient’s mother,who had showed similar clinical symptoms two years previously,also revealed an infection with H. canis. Both dogswere born in Germany and had never been abroad. Theyhad been used as hunting dogs in the same area for years.In the following case report, the symptoms, diagnosticapproach and therapy of H. canis infections are describedand the epidemiological data reviewed.
