Summary
Surgical removal of tumours from the neck and chest region in three dwarf hamsters (Phodopus sungorus/Phodopus campbelli) This study describes the surgery of fast-growing masses in the ventral neck and breast region of three dwarf hamsters (Phodopus sungorus/campbelli). The three lumps were completely excised using so-called “complete antagonisable anaesthesia”. The anaesthesia, surgery and recovery proceeded without any problems in all three hamsters. The histopathology of the three masses revealed different results: two cases of malignant mesenchymal neoplasia and a pyogranulomatous inflammation with intralesional bacteria were diagnosed.
