Derzeit wird von einer Hypersensitivit\u00e4tsreaktion als zugrunde liegender Ursache ausgegangen. Die betroffenen Hunde zeigen Husten, Dyspnoe und Leistungsinsuffizienz. Bei begleitender eosinophiler Rhinitis besteht zus\u00e4tzlich Nasenausfluss. Eine periphere Bluteosinophilie liegt bei 60 % der betroffenen Hunde vor. Radiologisch f\u00e4llt meist eine bronchointerstitielle Lungenzeichnung auf. Zur Diagnosestellung m\u00fcssen die eosinophile Entz\u00fcndung in den unteren Atemwegen nachgewiesen und andere Ursachen f\u00fcr die eosinophile Entz\u00fcndung ausgeschlossen werden. Als Materialien zum Nachweis der eosinophilen Entz\u00fcndung eignen sich eine Bronchoalveolarlavage oder eine Biopsie der Bronchialschleimhaut.
