In the present study, four S. hyovaginalis strains isolated from an abscess and the lungs of two wild boars, from a mandibular abscess of a goat and from the lung of a sheep, respectively were comparatively investigated phenotypically by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and genotypically by sequencing the molecular targets 16S rDNA and 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer region (ISR). The presented phenotypic and genotypic approaches allowed, independent from the origin of the isolates, a reliable identification of S. hyovaginalis and might help to understand the role this species plays in animal infections.}, year = {2020}, journal = {Berliner und Münchener Tierärztliche Wochenschrift}, volume = {133}, month = {03/2020}, publisher = {Schlütersche Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co.
