T. pyogenes has also been found in clinically healthy cows and even in the gravid uterus. The aim of the present study was to identify a significant difference between two groups of T. pyogenes isolated from diseased and apparently healthy animals through investigating putative virulence factor-encoding and MALDI-TOF MS analysis. In the present study, T. pyogenes (n=14) isolated from the genital tract of endometritic (n=8) and apparently healthy dairy cattle (n=6) together with 12 reference strains representing ten species of the genera Trueperella and Arcanobacterium were characterised phenotypically, by MALDI-TOF MS analysis and genotypically by investigating the molecular targets ISR und sodA. The further genotypic methods included amplification of the putative virulence factor-encoding genes plo, cbpA, nanH, nanP, fimA, fimC, fimE and tet(W). The distribution of the virulence factor encoding genes of the T. pyogenes revealed no significant differences between the two groups, indicating that additional criteria might be responsible for the onset and aetiopathology of bovine endometritis. }, year = {2020}, journal = {Berliner und Münchener Tierärztliche Wochenschrift}, volume = {133}, month = {04/2020}, publisher = {Schlütersche Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co.
