Zusammenfassung
Die Anwendung hormonell wirksamer Pharmaka in der Kleintier-Reproduktion stellt behandelnde Tierärztinnen und Tierärzte vor besondere Herausforderungen. Bei der Hündin und Katze sind für die Feststellung des Zyklusstandes und die Diagnose von Fortpflanzungsstörungen fundierte Kenntnisse der komplexen endokrinen Prozesse im Sexualzyklus und in der Gravidität essenziell. Nur auf dieser Basis ist es möglich, aus den verfügbaren Hormonpräparaten das für eine bestimmte Indikation am besten geeignete auszuwählen und effizient anzuwenden. Darüber hinaus ist es grundsätzlich wichtig, sich über die arzneimittelrechtlichen Vorgaben zu informieren und diese zu befolgen. Vor diesem Hintergrund gibt der folgende Beitrag einen Überblick über die wichtigsten derzeit verkehrsfähigen Wirkstoffe und Präparate und die zugehörigen reproduktionsmedizinischen Indikationen bei weiblichen und männlichen Hunden und Katzen.
Summary
The use of hormonally effective pharmaceuticals in small animal reproduction confronts veterinarians with special challenges. In the female dog and cat profound knowledge of the complex endocrine processes in the estrous cycle and pregnancy are essential for the diagnosis of the estrous cycle stage and of reproductive disorders. Only on this basis, it is possible to select from the available hormone preparations the most suitable for a specific indication and to use it efficiently. Furthermore, it is fundamentally important to inform oneself about the drug regulations and to follow them. With this in mind, the following article provides an overview of the most important substances and preparations currently available on the market and the related reproductive medical indications for female and male dogs and cats.
